Mia Torrecillas, a sophomore at Bakersfield Highland, took third in her qualifying heat of the girls 1,600 meters in 4:50.96 to advance to the final at the CIF State Championships at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif.
